Solution

The application of Static Var Compensator (SVC) in the power system can effectively reduce the line loss during power transmission, increase the transmission efficiency of the power grid by 30% to 70%, significantly save energy, reduce voltage fluctuation, suppress harmonics, and protect the security of the power grid.

1. SSCS SVC project of of Chongqing Power Company-Nan'an Power Supply Company  

Project Overview: Chongqing Power Company-Nan'an Power Supply Company, due to a large number of impact loads connected to the power grid, is facing the power quality problem such as the voltage fluctuations and harmonics. Though some users installed the power quality control equipment, the power quality of the power grid is still a threat.

Customer-facing problems:

1. Voltage deviation: At present, the distribution network system with wide coverage and large quantity has a large power supply radius and unreasonable structure, which causes the voltage deviation problem to be more prominent. The currently widely used voltage adjustment methods are the load tap transformers and switch capacitor banks. However, they both have the disadvantage of not being able to work frequently with the fluctuation of the load, resulting in excessive voltage deviation in some periods. At the same time, the operating equipment's voltage qualification rate assessment is more and more strict, and the potential for further improving the voltage qualification rate by improving the management level under the existing equipment conditions is limited, thus it is urgent to adopt new technologies and new equipment to improve the operation level.

■Put into Operation: December 2007

■ Operation effect: The controllable thyristor solid-state switch is connected in parallel to the switch break of the original reactive power compensation equipment in the substation, to assist the breaking process of the original circuit breaker, so that the circuit breaker can skip the arcing process during the switching process, and the capacity with the switch can realize zero input and breaking, which improves the service life of the device, realizes the frequent switch operation, and solves the problem that the reactive device cannot react frequently with the load change.

2, Anhui Power Company-Dangtu Power Supply Company SSCS SVC project
